The nature of the course:
Politics is a dynamic course that combines looking at current political events in the both the United Kingdom and globally. In Unit 1 and 2 the key areas that are covered include the nature of democracy and how effective the government is. Students also explore the traditional political ideas of conservatism, liberalism and socialism. Unit 3 studies areas of global Politics including the environment and human rights which can serve as foundation for the future study of international relationships. An interest in current affairs is strongly encouraged.
Examination is based on the interpretation of source material and essay writing.
