We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new year 7 students to The Minster School community in September.  This section contains lots of information for new students and parents/carers about The Minster school and how we plan to support the transition from Year 6 to Year 7.  I would encourage you to "drop in" for updates and the latest information.  We will, of course, also contact you directly with anything additional you need to know.

We would like to invite your child to school so they can spend some time with other children who will be joining us in September.  They will be taking part in fun games and getting to know new people. 

This is an activity session, so children are advised to attend in appropriate footwear and wear their primary school uniform. As the activities take place outdoors, sun hats and sun cream or waterproof coats are recommended depending on the weather conditions on the day and we would advise students bring a water bottle. 

The sessions have been devised by our 6^th Form Sports Leaders and may include playground games like splat, duck-duck-goose and other fun activities.   It is our aim that each child will work with several other members of their new tutor group (Tutor groups and classes will be shared with you both during our full Transition Day).

 

Full Transition Day and Meet the Tutor Event – Monday 29th June 2026

We would like to invite your child into school for our full transition day to start at 9am on Monday 29th June.  Your child will have the opportunity to spend time with their new classmates and have taster lessons such as Science and ICT.  The transition day will finish at 3.00pm.

At 4pm parents/carers are invited to attend our 'Meet the Tutor' session which will start at 4pm.  During this event we will share information with you about how our school is organised, give you the opportunity to meet key staff (including your child’s new tutor) and to ask any questions you may have.

On 22nd June at 4pm we will be holding an event for parents and students who don't attend one of our feeder schools so transition information can be shared and questions answered.

 

On 18th June at 5pm, our SEND Team will be holding a transition event to provide additional information and guidance for students with additional learning needs and their parents.
