The nature of the course:
This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives you the practical skills and theoretical knowledge of design - including design movements, manufacture, buying and marketing within the fashion and textiles industry. You will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences within the industry. You will also have opportunities to put your learning into practice by manufacturing prototypes within the market area of your choice using iterative design. You will gain a real understanding as well as the skills and knowledge needed to work in the creative textile industry.
Course components:
Examination - Technical principles (30%), Designing and making principles (20%)
Non-exam assessment (NEA) – (50%) - Design and make portfolio and prototype
