The nature of the course:
Studying OCR English Literature allows you to explore classic and modern texts in detail, including a detailed investigation of the Gothic genre through the re-working of fairy tales in The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter. You will have the opportunity to study a Shakespeare play as well as contemporary drama and a selection of classic poetry. There is also the chance to study quality fiction of your choice in preparation for two coursework pieces. Keen readers and independent thinkers relish the class discussions and wide range of tasks.
Course components:
Component 1: Shakespeare and pre-1900 poetry. Examination worth 40%.
Component 2: Comparative and contextual study: The Gothic Examination worth 40%.
Component 3 Literature post 1900
Non-Examined Assessment of 3000 words worth 20%
